View the Status of a Transaction

Navigation: NUFinancials > Employee Self Service > Travel and Expense Center

  1. Click View to check status.
    • View allows you to view-only.
    • Changes can only be made using Modify.
    • The steps to view a transaction are the same.
      • This example uses an Expense Report.
    • Delete and Print are not accessible.
    • Pending transactions are automatically deleted after 30 days of inactivity.
    • NUFinancials may display the most recent transaction you created.
      • If this is not the transaction you wish to view, click Return to Search.

  2. Click Search to see a list of transactions for yourself and anyone you are a proxy for.
  3. Review the Report Status column to see current status of transactions:
    1. Pending - saved for later or sent back (only pending transactions can be modified)
    2. Submitted - submitted for approval
    3. In Process - approvals in process
    4. Approved - fully approved, not paid
    5. Staged - payment in process
    6. Paid - payment has been issued
  4. Click the Report ID to view a read-only version of the transaction.

  5. Click the Report Status link to view the workflow approval path in Approval Status.

Expense Report Workflow Sequence

  1. Employee Certification (if entered by proxy)
  2. Project (if applicable)
  3. Department (Level 1, 2, 3, as applicable)
  4. Expenses Supervisor
  5. ASRSP (if applicable)
  6. Accounts Payable

Modify a Pending Transaction

Use this process to modify a Pending transaction that was saved for later or sent back for revision.

Navigation: NUFinancials > Employee Self Service > Travel and Expense Center

or NUPortal > Financial > Payments > Expense Reports > Find/Modify Existing Expense Report

  1. Click Modify under the transaction type you wish to change: Expense Report, Travel Authorization, or Cash Advance
    • The steps to view a transaction are the same.
    • This example uses an Expense Report.
    • Delete and Print are not accessible.
    • Pending transactions are automatically deleted after 30 days of inactivity.

  3. Click Search.
    • The search results will include Pending transactions for yourself and those you have proxy access for (only transactions with a Pending status can be modified).
    • You will receive no search results if there are no pending transactions.
    • If there is only one transaction in a pending status, it will open automatically open after clicking Modify.
  4. Click the Report ID of the transaction you wish to modify.

Finding approvers send-back comments

You will receive an email notification when a transaction is sent back to you (and your proxy).

  1. Click the Pending status.

  2. Click the triangle next to Comments to reveal them.

Delete or Add lines (as needed)

  1. To delete a line, click the Select checkbox for the desired line.
  2. Click Delete Selected.

Save, Budget Check, and Submit after making any changes

  1. Click Save For Later.
  2. Click Check Budget.
  3. Once Budget Checking Status is Valid, Click Submit.
